Member Information
Campbells Bay Tennis Club offers excellent facilities for its members. For guidelines
concerning the use of these, and matters regarding the everyday running of your
club, please refer to the following sections :
Club House
- The clubhouse is open on club days and when the coach is in attendance.

The clubhouse phone number is 410 5688.
- Please ensure
everything is locked and the alarm is set if you are the last to leave.
Security System
The clubhouse security system is monitored by CountryWide Monitoring Services. Should
an activation occur, please contact Country Wide's Monitoring Control room, phone
379 7759. Members who are likely to open or close the clubhouse (for example, those
on the club day roster list) need to have a personal access code. Please contact
Mike Tritt, ph 410 7728 to arrange this.
Courts
- The courts are numbered 1 to 6, starting from the court nearest to the Clubhouse.

The artificial grass surface is damaged by incorrect footwear and by cigarettes,
so please no smoking.
- The court lights are on a time switch and automatically turn off at 10pm. To extend
lamp life, please leave the lights on if others are booked after you.
Court Keys
- The Court Key opens the gates to the courts, turns the floodlights on and off, and
unlocks the padlock on the gate across the entrance to the park at Rae Road.

Please shut the gates to the courts when you leave and lock the gate across Rae
Road if you leave or enter the park after sunset.
- If you find the gate locked
when you enter after dark, please lock it after you.
- Locks are changed each
year at the end of August.
- Keys will be exchanged at the clubhouse at subscription
time.
- A charge is made for lost keys.

The Management Committee has assigned the following times for specific acitivities.

Senior interclub are assigned the use of courts 4-6. By arrangement with the clubday
co-ordinator, a fourth court may be available subject to club demand.
Court Bookings
- These many be entered on the sheets in the black folder on the verandah.
- The booking sheets are in 30 minute intervals; no person may book more than 1.5
hours.
- Bookings lapse if not taken up within 10 minutes.
- Players must vacate their court if their time is up and others are waiting.

Court bookings may also be arranged by phoning the clubrooms. Should the coach be
on court or unavailable leave your request on the answerphone.
- If you are unable to keep your booking please ring to cancel it. Clubhouse phone

Club Days
Seniors - Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5pm and Wednesday
evenings from 7-10pm
Mid Week Ladies - Wednesday mornings 9am-12 noon.
Club History
In 1884, a Crown Subdivision set aside some 73ha as a recreation reserve between East Coast Road and Beach Road. In 1914, the Pupuke Golf Club was incorporated. At the time of the NZ Centennial celebrations in 1940, the park was renamed as Centennial Park and extensively planted. The pohutukawa avenue behind the clubhouse was planted about 1946. The Tennis Club was incorporated in 1948 and the new clubhouse built in 1990.
Coaching
The coach is responsible for junior, beginner and interclub coaching. There is subsidized coaching available for all senior interclub teams and free beginner coaching for new senior members. Enquiries to the Club Coach.
Subscriptions
- The club year runs from 1 September to 31 August.
- Subscriptions are fixed at the Annual General Meeting and are due for payment on 31 August.
- Upon payment, a coloured shoe tag is provided for identification.
- Non financial members are not entitled to use the courts or play interclub.
Committee

Visitors
Visitors may accompany members on court for a fee of $5 per person per hour during daylight hours only. Prospective members may attend two club days without paying a visitors fee.
Social
Fun tournaments are held occasionally at which partners who are non-members are welcome. Other functions are held throughout the year. Information about these will be posted in the clubroom, in newsletters and emailed to members.
Pro Shop
In our efforts to provide a complete tennis facility to club members, a Tennis Pro Shop is run in the clubhouse by the Club Coach.
Call in for expert advice and great prices on racquets , as well as accessories and footwear.
There are a wide variety of tennis strings available, so come by to have your string tension read and discuss options for your racquet and playing style.
